Pulses
Welcome To Roadside Cottage Recipes Pulses Section
Within these video pages, you will find a selection of bean and pulse recipes. Roadside Cottage Recipes will be including some great recipes in the coming months as well as a detailed selection on the many types of pulses that are currently on the market. In the meantime, enjoy!
Pulses are a fantastic source of iron and protein and taste wonderful in salads, stews, soups and spicy curries. Dried beans can be stored for long periods but it’s always useful to have a few cans of cooked beans in the larder.
Dried pulses need to be soaked overnight and the water discarded the following day. Rinse through and then boil rapidly for a few minutes before cooking. Particular attention needs to be placed upon kidney beans that have toxins, which can be harmful. Always boil kidney beans for at least 10 minutes prior to using.
Always keep dried pulses in airtight containers
